ADRIAN, Mich. -- Marygrove women's track & field newcomer and basketball student-athlete Theresa Dray (Davison, Mich./Davison) entered her second collegiate track meet Friday (May 2) at the 2014 WHAC Championships hosted by Siena Heights University. Dray, new to the team to begin the outdoor season, entered the championship event hopeful to improve upon her marks set three weeks prior at Siena Heights' Don Kleinow Invitational.
In the shot put, the former high school throws standout took part in the first flight of throwers just outside Siena Heights' O'Laughlin Stadium. Dray's top throw of 10.97m was an improvement over her previous best of 10.48m. The near 11 meter throw landed Dray in 11th place overall in the loaded conference field. Dray's toss was less than a quarter-meter off of a top ten mark at Friday's championships.
Dray, a freshman, then took aim at taking on the field in the discus. After her best toss was called off due to a foul, Dray came back to record a throw of 12.49m to finish 16th in the conference championship event.
Despite returning to the sport weeks ago, Dray measured up nicely against her fellow WHAC counterparts at the championship event. The freshman finishes the season on a high note and is eager to improve upon her marks for the 2014-15 campaign.
At the end of the meet, Dray was named Marygrove's representative on the WHAC Women's Outdoor Track Champions of Character Team.
