The two
teams played to an even first 10:00 minutes of play before a 28-9 Scot run put
the Mustangs down 46-27 at the break. Showing grit and determination, the
Mustangs raced back into the contest and brought the score to within four
(57-53) with just over 11:00 minutes to play.
The Scots
used their strong long-distance shooting to once again put away the Mustangs,
this time for good. A 13-for-30 effort from beyond the arc paced the Scots for
an 88-74 victory.
Eric Johnson (Southfield, Mich.)
led the Mustangs with 18 points and nine rebounds. He was followed by Justin McKinney (Detroit,
Mich.) and Marcus Hopkins (Southfield,
Mich.) with 17 and 16 respectively.
McKinney added
10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Hopkins spread the wealth with seven assists
in the contest.
Christmas Break has hit for the Mustangs. The team will take a week off before preparing for a January 2, 2010 showdown with NAIA foe, Madonna University. The Crusaders welcome the Mustangs to town for a 12pm tip.
