CANTON, Ohio-The Mustangs hit the road for Ohio over the holiday break to participate in the Malone/Walsh Classic on the 29th & 30th. Injuries plagued the Mustangs in both games against the NAIA Ohio powers as they dropped both to slide to 5-7 on the season.

In game one, the Mustangs squared off against a struggling Malone University squad. A six point halftime lead would quickly evaporate in the second stanza as Malone pulled off the 71-66 upset over the Mustangs. Maria Martin led the Mustang attack with 15 points, four rebounds and four steals. Jacquis Bullock and Santrea Bush followed in double-figures with 13 and 12 respectively. Bush added 10 rebounds for her first double-double as a Mustang.

Game two of the Malone/Walsh Classic pitted the Mustangs against powerhouse Walsh University. The Cavs got out to a strong start en rout to a lopsided victory over the Mustangs, 86-52. Junior forward Santrea Bush followed up a strong game one performance with a season high 17 points in the loss against Walsh. Freshman forward Keara Marks was the only other Mustang to reach double-figures with 13 points.

The Mustangs played both games with seven or less players due to injuries. The team will look to get healthy and back on track before Saturday when they travel to Oberlin College at 2pm.
