DETROIT, Mich.-Mustang Volleyball will not wait years to build a dynasty at Marygrove. Instead, the Mustangs, and coach Karen Graves, are focused on building a strong team and winning in 2010. The second year Mustangs came one step closer to their goal with the signing of Brighton's Hailey Wilson on Friday.
Wilson, a 5'9"
versatile player, has displayed the ability to play and excel at many positions
during a successful volleyball career. Wilson's versatility, and her ability to
play left, right, or middle at times, will help the Mustangs match-up against
any opponent this fall.
The former
Brighton Bulldog recently finished an impressive senior season that brought
many individual and team accolades her way. As a senior, Wilson helped lead the Bulldogs to a Kensington
Lakes Activities Association Division A Championship. The divisional
championship was followed by a runner-up effort at the conference tournament
and later a 2009 District Championship.
The senior
standout produced enough throughout the course of the season to be named to an
impressive list that included: All-Conference, All-County, and All-Region. A
true leader, Wilson was tabbed Miss Offense and Team MVP at Brighton.
Outside of
the MHSAA season, Wilson
played on some of her area's finest club volleyball teams. She was a 2007 and
2008 member of Huron
Valley, and currently
plays for widely-respected High Velocity.
Coach Graves on Wilson: Hailey brings us much athleticism and versatility. She is a hard working player with a great work ethic. Her enthusiasm and determination to succeed will be a major asset to our program for the next four years. I look forward to working with Hailey this upcoming season.
