DETROIT, Mich. -- Marygrove College women's head soccer coach Worteh Sampson added another piece to his coaching staff with the hiring of assistant coach Rodenc Asllani, the now current Director of Coaching at Waza F.C. in Livonia, Michigan. The hire was announced Friday afternoon by Sampson.
Coach Asllani played two years of collegiate soccer at Schoolcraft College (2003-2005) before taking his talents to fellow Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe, Madonna University. At Madonna, Asllani helped his team to a regular season WHAC championship and an overall record of 16-4-1 (11-1 WHAC). After college, he displayed his soccer talent in Albania where he played professionally for six years (2006-2012). Immediately after his playing career was over, he coached in Albania for three years (2013-2016). Asllani is currently the Director of Coaching at Waza F.C. and will continue there while he coaches at Marygrove College.
After being asked how he feels about taking an assistant coaching position for the Mustangs, Coach Asllani said, "I am very excited to be a part of the program. I'm looking forward to getting to work with Coach Sampson, Coach Yao, the Marygrove College Athletic Department, and the women's soccer team. I am very thankful and humbled to be given this opportunity.".
The women's soccer team will begin their 2017 season at home, against Goshen College, on August 21st, at 5:00 p.m.
