GARDEN CITY, Mich.-On Wednesday, an aggressive week of signings came to a close with a commitment from a familiar place. Garden City, the high school for many current Mustang student-athletes, funneled another student-athlete to the college when Tyler Arban signed a Letter of Intent.
Arban, a
skillful midfielder, was a three-year varsity starter and two-year captain. In
fact, Arban started in all 57 games he appeared in from 2007-2009. Over the course
of his career, the midfielder accumulated 19 goals and 21 assists, good for 60
points. No stranger to putting on big
performances, Arban tallied an impressive four game-winning goals in three
years, and went on to tally two 5+ point games his senior season.
His efforts
were recognized by his coach and local media. Arban was named Team MVP for a
senior campaign that ended in 27 points [8 goals (1 gwg), 10 assists]. The stellar
season propelled him to All-Observer Second Team and All- Conference First Team
honors.
Exemplifying
the true meaning of student-athlete, Arban will head to Marygrove as a Presidential Scholarship recipient.
Marygrove's Presidential Scholarship
rewards incoming students with a high school GPA of 3.8 of higher with full
tuition, books and fees.
Coach Johnson on Arban: Tyler is a very talented player that will help us in many ways. He plays the game with a mix of intelligence and skill. The combination should make his transition to the next level a smooth one. I look forward to coaching Tyler in the fall.
