DETROIT, Mich.-Coach Tony Williams continued his pursuit of building a championship foundation for years to come with the signing of Ana Guerra to a 2010-11 Letter of Intent. Guerra, an incoming freshman out of Flint Powers, was on Coach Williams' radar as long as any recruit he has pursued thus far.
Guerra's
high school, Flint Powers, boasts one of the strongest soccer programs in the
state. Although she only had one varsity year of experience at Powers, Guerra
was part of a program that earned three district championships, two regional
championships, and two state championship appearances.
The outside
midfielder also gained valuable experience at the competitive club level.
Guerra was a seven-year member of the Genesee Stars Soccer Club (GSSC), while
joining an elite local group (Novi Jaguars) last year. The club competition,
mixed with her high school resume´, should provide Guerra with the tools needed
to transition well into the college game.
Coach Williams on Guerra: Ana is a special talent that I recruited for some time. I did so because she is the right fit for this program and institution. Like many of her future teammates, Ana is an excellent person off the field and in the classroom. I am very pleased to welcome Ana to Marygrove College and our women's soccer program.
