FORT WAYNE, Ind.-On Saturday, the Mustangs were finally able to notch the statement win they have been looking for in the 2010-11 campaign by downing #15 Indiana Tech 59-56 on the road.

The impressive road victory over a Top-25 ranked opponent comes after a season riddled with close losses and heartbreak against some of the nation's best talent (most notably a 75-70 loss to #3 Cornerstone University).

Saturday's story would end different for a vastly improved Mustang squad that is poised to make a postseason run. After taking an early lead against the Warriors, the Mustangs were able to put it in cruise control and maintain a five-point lead heading into the break, 34-29. Marcus Hopkins (Southfield, Mich./Southfield) and Chris Sinagoga (Madison Heights, Mich./Bishop Foley) paced the first half effort with 10 and 9 points respectively.

In the second, a confident ranked Warrior squad came out and battled back against the upstart youthful Mustangs. Tech (11-6) would eventually take the lead before senior Justin McKinney (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) dropped in a pretty and-one putting the ‘Stangs up by two after the charity stripe toss.

McKinney's bucket was the last time the Warriors would see the lead as Sinagoga and Brandon Carlson (Waterford, Mich./Kettering) helped seal the hard-fought road victory by nailing free throws down the stretch.

In the end, the day belonged to the men from the Motor City as they notched one of the best wins in program history with a 59-56 victory over the NAIA's Division 2 15th ranked team.

Hopkins built upon his stellar 2010-11 season by tallying 24 points in the victory to lead all scorers. He was followed in double figures by Sinagoga with 12 points.

The win boosts the Mustangs record to 6-12 heading into Wednesday's highly anticipated matchup at Rochester College (11-7). With the gained momentum from Saturday's win, the Mustangs head into Rochester looking to take down their foe from the north to continue their improved campaign as of late.
