UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- On Friday (01/13), the women's indoor track & field team was back for their second meet of the 2012 calendar when they traveled to Saginaw Valley State University for the Annual Doug Hansen Open.

The young program made a large impact at SVSU due in part to Ashley Hart (Oak Park, Mich./Oakland CC) and her performance in the 60m and 400m. To start the day off, Hart shot out of the blocks for a time of 8.14 in the 60m. The time was good enough to edge sprinters at the NCAA D2 level as well as a few NAIA counterparts.

In the 400, Hart cruised past the competition with a blistering time of 1:08 en route to a second place finish behind a runner from the host Cardinals squad. The effort symbolized the advancements the young track & field program has made in their brief existence.

Also competing in the 60m was LaNyck Washington (Detroit, Mich./East Kentwood) with a time of 9.24. Washington's time edged a fellow NAIA competitor from Concordia (MI) for a Top-20 spot in a loaded field.

The Mustangs will be back in action on Friday (01/20) at the 2012 Mike Lints Open hosted by Grand Valley State University.
