DETROIT, Mich. -- The men's soccer program added depth to their goalkeeping unit last week with the signing of Brian Tripp from Madison Heights Lamphere High School. Tripp's addition gives the Mustangs much-needed assistance at a position that will be depleted after the 2012 season.
Tripp, a 6-3
athletic goalie, relied plenty on his lengthy wingspan to turn away the
opposition year-after-year in the high school ranks. Last season, Tripp's play
earned him All-District Team honors after helping take his team to back-to-back
district championship games.
As a sophomore, Tripp was named Lamphere's Team
MVP after completing a successful season in net for the Rams. The quality play
earned Tripp a roster spot on local soccer club, Madison Heights Express. The
multi-sport athlete also competes in basketball and track & field at
Lamphere High.
Coach Johnson on Tripp: Brian will add much-needed depth and quality to our goalkeeping corps. He's an athletic kid with a long body and we expect him to become an excellent player as he gains confidence and experience at the collegiate level. I look forward to coaching Brian in the fall.
