DETROIT, Mich. -- The Mustangs went out-of-state to find their next top signee for next year's class. On Monday (01/23), Janiesha Ridley, a senior at Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Luers High School, inked a 2012-13 Letter of Intent inside Marygrove's Wellness Center.
Ridley, a
5-7 combo guard, will enter next season as one of the Mustangs top recruits
after enjoying a successful career-to-date. Since late in her middle school
days, Ridley was able to achieve individual and team success after leading her eighth
grade AAU squad to a National Championship. That year, Ridley led the city in
scoring and earned the 3-point award for her ability to knock down shots from
distance.
In high
school, Ridley helped take the Bishop Luer Knights to a sectional championship
as a freshman. A two-sport athlete, Ridley also excelled on the track for one
year at Bishop Luer. Ridley and the Knights are currently seeking another
sectional championship with the playoffs slated to begin in a few weeks.
Coach Hitchcock on Ridley: Janiesha is an extremely talented athlete with a will to succeed. Her versatility and athleticism will undoubtedly help us next year as we look to make a statement in our first year in the WHAC. She comes from a great program and has the championship experience we look for in all of our student-athletes.
