ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Mustangs traveled to Concordia for a quad that featured an early non-conference tilt against the host Cardinals.
In the first match, the Mustangs (6-10) were opposite of their conference counterpart Cardinals. A rough start turned into a strong set two and three effort. The momentum that was built came too late as the Mustangs fell to the Cardinals in non-conference action, 3-0.
Match No. 2 of the day was against NCAA Division III Adrian College (Mich.). The Bulldogs and Mustangs engaged in an ultra-competitive that eventually went in the Bulldogs favor, 27-25. The Bulldogs used the first set momentum to trip up the Mustangs in straight sets.
The third and final match of the day pitted the Mustangs against familiar foe, Rochester College (Mich.). The Mustangs and Warriors have met two previous times this season (both Rochester wins). On Saturday, the Mustangs, playing with nine on their roster, were able to take the match to four sets before falling again to a Warrior team that boasts nearly three players to one in comparison to the Mustangs.
Elizabeth Lerczak (Hale, Mich./Hale) was named to the All-Tournament Team after Saturday's action was complete.
Coach Jamie Baker and the Mustangs will hit the court again Wednesday (Oct. 3) at home against Great Lakes Christian College. Earlier this season, the Mustangs were able to top the Crusaders in straight sets (25-4, 25-4, 25-9).
