DETROIT, Mich. -- The Mustangs (6-11-1; 1-6-1 WHAC) will open up their inaugural Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament with a tough test at the top-seed Panthers of Davenport University. The opening-round match will be played under the lights Wednesday (Oct. 31) at 7:00pm.

Heading in as the eighth and final seed, the Mustangs will look to end their skid at season's end and attempt to best a Davenport team that won the only meeting of the season, 4-0. The 4-0 loss was the Mustangs first conference setback of the season. Coming in as the conference No. 1, Davenport will meet the Mustangs as the NAIA's No. 25-ranked team as of last week's poll.

Leading scorers Kaitlyn Vigna (China Twp., Mich./Marine City) and Cheyenne York (Taylor, Mich./Truman) will look to bolster the Mustangs offense in the second goaround with the Panthers. Senior sweeper Jessica Niemi (Swartz Creek, Mich./Swartz Creek) will look to keep her heralded career rolling as she attempts to anchor a defense that was tested against the Panthers in their earlier meeting.
