DETROIT, Mich. -- A 19-0 second half run lifted the visiting Cardinals of Andrews University (4-2) to a 75-63 victory over the Mustangs. The loss drops the Mustangs record to 0-4 heading into conference play this weekend.
Down two at the half, the Mustangs were able to race out to a 50-42 lead with just over 12 minutes left to play.
The offense would then go stagnant as the Cardinals soared back to score 19-in-a-row to take a 61-50 lead less than four minutes later.
The large run enabled the Cardinals to win their second in as many tries against a young Mustangs team.
Darryl Foster (Southfield, Mich./Missouri Valley College) scored a team-high 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Cameron Coburn (Bay City, Mich./All Saints) followed with 13 points, while freshman Diante Taylor (Battle Creek, Mich./Battle Creek) netted 12 points of his own.
Sophomore forward Kevin Dunaj (Warren, Mich./Cousino) ended the night with a balanced effort of seven rebounds, five points and four assists.
On Saturday (Nov. 15), the Mustangs travel to Grand Rapids to take on NAIA No. 11 and preseason Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference favorite Davenport University at 3 p.m. The contest will mark the first WHAC contest for the men's basketball program.
