GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Mustangs inaugural Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) contest ended with a lopsided defeat at the hands of the nation's 12th-ranked team, 101-49. The host Panthers welcomed the Mustangs to the conference by only allowing 12 first half points on their way to the 52-point victory.
In the second half, the Mustangs were able to go toe-to-toe with one of the nation's top NAIA programs after netting 37 points in the latter stanza. In the end, the slow start would be too much to overcome as Davenport earned the win in the conference opener.
Senior forward Keara Marks (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) ended her first WHAC game with a team-high 20 points. The 20-point total leaves Marks one point shy of becoming the third member of the 1,000 point club in program history.
Marks will look to knock down one more bucket to eclipse the impressive total Tuesday (Nov. 20) at Madonna.
