DETROIT, Mich. -- The men's basketball team, led by athletic director & head coach Dave Sichterman, will hit the NBA hardwood at The Palace of Auburn Hills tomorrow (Friday, December 28) when they square off against the Comets of Olivet College. Olivet, designated as the home team, will host the Mustangs at 2 p.m. in a matinee contest that will precede the Pistons 7:30 p.m. tilt against LeBron James and the World Champion Miami Heat.
The Mustangs (1-13, 1-6 WHAC) will look to get back on track against a Comets (4-6) team that enters Auburn Hills in the midst of a two-game losing streak. The pair of teams have faced two common opponents in Lawrence Tech and Purdue-Calumet on their path to The Palace.
Against Lawrence Tech, the Mustangs were able to pick up their lone win-to-date of the 2012-13 campaign against the conference foe by a 62-57 final. Olivet was also able to top Lawrence Tech after besting the Blue Devils, 73-57.
Facing Purdue-Calumet, the Mustangs were downed on the road by a final of 81-62 after getting off to a slow start in Indiana. The Comets hosted Purdue-Calumet and were able to pick up their second win of the 2012-13 season with a 69-60 victory.
Tickets to the Marygrove/Olivet contest are sold out. The Mustangs official athletic website, MarygroveMustangs.com, will have a full recap of the day at the conclusion of the contest.
On Saturday, the Mustangs will face a quick turnaround as they travel to NCAA DI Youngstown State University for a 2:05 p.m. tipoff.
