UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- Freshman cross country and track & field standout Devin Willis (Flint, Mich./Carmen Ainsworth) had a homecoming of sorts by competing in the 2013 Doug Hansen Open hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.

Willis competed in the 60m and 200m dash events in Friday's (Jan. 11). In the 60m event, Willis ran an 8.85 prelim to qualify fourth overall.

In the event's final, Willis kept pace after clocking in at 8.86 to finish in fourth place overall against NCAA Division II competition.

The 200m event brought more success Willis' way. The freshman would finish sixth overall after running the 200m in 29.72. The time was three seconds off the first place pace.

The Mustangs will return to action next weekend at the annual Mike Lints Open hosted by Grand Valley State University.
