DETROIT, Mich. -- Due to building issues in Highland Park, tomorrow's (Jan. 16) basketball doubleheader against Davenport University will be played on the campus of fellow WHAC counterpart Lawrence Tech in Southfield. Game times will remain the same as the women will take on the No. 3 Panthers at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow against No. 8 Davenport at 7:30 p.m.
BIG CHALLENGES LIE AHEAD
On the women's side, the Mustangs will face a tall task going against one of the nation's top teams in Davenport (18-1, 10-1 WHAC). The Panthers will visit the Mustangs after gliding their way to victory in Grand Rapids earlier this season by a final of 101-49. Senior standout Keara Marks (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) is 31 points away from tying the all-time scoring mark set by former Mustang Amanda DeGain. Marks and the Mustangs will look for a scoring outburst in an attempt to shut down one of the nation's top programs.
The men will also face Davenport (15-4, 8-3 WHAC) for the second time of the 2012-13 campaign as part of the conference home-and-home schedule. Earlier this season, the then No. 6-ranked Panthers rolled to an 83-38 decision over a young Mustang squad. Freshman point guard Diante Taylor (Battle Creek, Mich./Central) will look to keep his recent strong play alive after recording back-to-back double-doubles in losses to Siena Heights and Northwestern Ohio.
