DETROIT, Mich. -- Recently, Dave Sichterman, Marygrove's Director of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation, released the Fall 2012 Athletic Director Honor Roll recognizing the College's student-athletes that achieved greatness in the classroom.

The latest edition of the semi-annual list was comprised of forty (40) student-athletes that earned a 3.25 semester GPA or higher while enrolling in a minimum of 12 credit hours.

IT'S GREAT TO BE A MARYGROVE STUDENT-ATHLETE!

The 40 student-athletes, a total that ties the record for the department*, represent a large portion of current Mustangs that excel in the classroom at Marygrove College. Currently, Mustang student-athletes average a higher overall GPA than traditionally-aged non-athletes at the institution – a true testament to how Marygrove student-athletes commit to being lifelong learners on-and-off the playing field.

PERFECTION

Of the 40 named to the list, 25% (10) earned a near-perfect 3.9 GPA or above, while four achieved the unblemished mark of a perfect 4.0 all while participating in their sport.

STAGGERING NUMBERS

Ten fall sport student-athletes were celebrated as Academic All-Americans by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) … Eleven student-athletes capped off their first season in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference by being named to the WHAC's All-Academic Team … The academic honors were rounded out by three more that were named a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Daktronics Scholar-Athlete.

*This fall's total of 40 student-athletes mirrors last year's tally of 40 named to the AD Honor Roll.
