DETROIT, Mich. -- The Mustangs (3-24, 3-16 WHAC) put together a gritty first half effort that saw them cling to a lead for most of the latter part of the stanza before the visiting Warriors of Indiana Tech (20-7, 13-6 WHAC) slammed a last second bucket home to take a 29-27 lead into the halftime break.

The 29-27 halftime tally was short-lived as the Warriors came out of the break firing down a fury of dunks to build a double-digit lead six minutes into the second half.

Once the double-digit was built, the Warriors staved off a few Mustang comeback efforts before pulling away to win the conference showdown, 70-56.

A strong rebounding team, the Warriors leaked a player down court to rebound four-on-five. The method worked for the Warriors as the visitors assembled a hefty 28-4 advantage in fast break points to decide the game.

The Mustangs were led by senior forward Justin Armstrong (Detroit, Mich./Academy of Oak Park) with an impressive double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Armstrong was followed in double figures by Zamarre Neely (Detroit, Mich./Summit Academy) and Diante Taylor (Battle Creek, Mich./Central) with 12 and 11 points respectively.

The Warriors were paced by Jordan Hickman with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

The last road trip of the 2012-13 looms Saturday (Feb. 9) when the Mustangs caravan to the Michigan/Ohio border to take on Lourdes University. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
