SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Mustangs (1-25, 0-20 WHAC) dropped their 25th straight contest after earning an opening day victory earlier this season. The loss, coming on the final road trip of the 2012-13 campaign, came at the hands of the Gray Wolves of Lourdes University (9-19, 6-14 WHAC) by a final of 91-63.
Playing their first season in one of the nation's top conferences (WHAC), the Mustangs have hit a few rough patches during the course of the campaign that will total a grueling 22 conference contests at seasons end. One of the most recent rough patch was the loss of the program's all-time leading scorer, Keara Marks (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance), to a season-ending injury.
As it is every time they hit the hardwood, the shorthanded Mustangs fought hard against the host Gray Wolves. Two Mustangs battled the Gray Wolves to career days as freshman Elisha Major (Flint, Mich./Flushing) exploded for a career best 20 points, while sophomore Diamond Murray (Pontiac, Mich./West Bloomfield) notched a career-high of her own with 19 points.
Major's 20 points, due in part to a career-high five three-pointers, tied Saturday's (Feb. 9) game-high with Lourdes' leading scorer Tarynn Hampton. Two other Gray Wolves would pour in at least 15 points in the conference matinee showdown.
The Mustangs return home for the final two contests of the 2012-13 season as they prepare to host Siena Heights Wednesday (Feb. 13) before the season finale against Northwestern Ohio on Saturday (Feb. 16).
