The Mustangs' hard work in the classroom resulted in the selections to this year's Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete cast that comprised of 178 student-athletes across NAIA DII Women's Basketball. [Complete list]
Four nominations positioned the Mustangs amongst the top of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) performers. Davenport led the conference with five selections, while Madonna tied Marygrove with four academic awardees.
For Gohl and Niemi, the recent honor is the second Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete selection of the 2012-13 academic year after the two-sport stars earned the distinction in their primary sport of volleyball and soccer respectively.
All four Mustangs were recently named United States College Athletic Association (USCAA) Academic All-Americans and were also tabbed WHAC Academic All-Conference performers. [Read more]
In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
