TOLEDO, Ohio -- Sophomore Robert Crockett (Detroit, Mich./King) took the reins of the young Mustang squad and led the team with a strong performance at the 8th Annual Toledo Collegiate Challenge. The sophomore distance runner opened his outdoor campaign alongside three other Mustangs at Saturday's (03/30) event.

Crockett clipped a pair of runners, including a NCAA Division I participant, in the 800m with a time of 2:06.91. The time was just off his record indoor pace of 2:05 set earlier this year at the Mike Lints Open (Grand Valley State University).

In the 5000m run, Crockett paced the Mustangs with a 17:35 effort. Sophomore Akil Prowell (Detroit, Mich./Crockett) and freshman Jonathon Rutkowski (Riverview, Mich./Gabriel Richard) followed Crockett with times of 18:17 and 18:43 respectively.

Freshman Jalen Wilson (Detroit, Mich./CMA) entered his first collegiate hurdles event in the 400m and finished 21st with a time of 1:13.46.

The Mustangs will be in action April 13 at the 2013 Don Kleinow Memorial hosted by Siena Heights University.
