FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Mustangs, anchored by a strong core of freshmen, played in the latter half of their first two-day event Wednesday (Sept. 25) at Coyote Creek Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.  The second round of the WHAC's third jamboree marked the first overnight trip for head coach Frank McAuliffe and his cast of Mustangs to begin the 2013 season.  The second day of the jamboree was hosted by Indiana Tech.

After shooting an 86 Tuesday (Sept. 24), Jake Vogel (Comstock Park, Mich./Grand Rapids CC) rebounded nicely to settle in for a +7 (79) in the second half of WHAC Jamboree No. 3. The improvement on day two spread to Michael Kanalas (Rives Junction, Mich./Jackson Northwest) as well. Kanalas shot a solid round with a +11 (83) in Fort Wayne. The mark was four strokes better than Kanalas' output in Ohio a day earlier.

Tyler Newell (Livonia, Mich./Divine Child) finished off the scoring for the Mustangs with an 89. The score sits right at Newell's average to begin the season and was two shots off his pace set Tuesday in Ohio.

The Mustangs will take time off before they host the next conference event, WHAC Jamboree No. 4, Oct. 7 at Metamora Golf & Country Club in Metamora, Mich. Shotgun start is slated for 11:00 a.m.
