COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The men's soccer team traveled to Columbia, Ky., for a Saturday (Sept. 28) evening showdown against 9-time NAIA National Champion and 2013 No. 2-ranked Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson College (6-1-2). Facing their greatest challenge of the season, things became a bit more difficult for the Mustangs as they had to play a man-down for the final 75 minutes of the contest after a foul hindered a potential Blue Raider breakaway. From there, the second-ranked Blue Raiders scored minutes before halftime and added four more late to take the contest, 5-1.

Senior forward Jad El-Zein (Tyre, Lebanon/Dearborn Fordson) beat the Blue Raiders keeper left off an Abdoulie Jallow (Bansang, The Gambia/Rust) feed to tie the game up, 1-1, early in the second half. The goal was all the injury-riddled Mustangs could muster as Lindsey Wilson rallied off four late goals to pull away from the upset-minded Mustangs.

Levanno Lewis (Montego Bay, Jamaica/Cornwall) faced plenty of action in net against the NAIA power Blue Raiders. The newcomer amassed 12 saves and allowed five goals in the Mustangs final non-conference contest until Oct. 30 when Cleary University visits Marygrove.

The Mustangs will look to get back on track Wednesday (Oct. 2) when they travel to Indiana Tech. Last year, the Mustangs and Warriors tied, 1-1, at Marygrove in the regular season. Marygrove won the last matchup between the programs in the 2012 WHAC Quarterfinals.
