DETROIT, Mich. -- The University of Northwestern Ohio Racers (9-1-2, 4-1-0 WHAC) shutout the Mustangs (8-4-0, 3-2-0 WHAC) for the second straight season Wednesday (Oct.9) in a battle that would help decide second place in the WHAC at the midpoint in conference play.

With the loss and a Cornerstone(CU)/Madonna draw the Mustangs currently sit at 24 points overall, two above CU overall and one-point behind the Golden Eagles in conference play heading into Saturday's (Oct. 12) showdown at Cornerstone. Last season, the Golden Eagles ended the Mustangs' season in the WHAC semifinals.

On Monday, the visiting Racers – a strong team in 2013 – shot out in front and never looked back as they went on to win, 5-0. Reigning WHAC Defensive Player of the Week Levanno Lewis (Montego Bay, Jamaica/Rust) could do little as the Racer attack was effective in the WHAC matinee.

The Mustangs had five shots, two coming on goal behind decent looks from Gonzalo Caceres (Detroit, Mich./Southwestern) and Ahmed Jamalaldin (Dearborn, Mich./Henry Ford CC).

Saturday's game at Cornerstone will be the Mustang Sports Network Game of the Week. Live audio coverage begins with the pregame show at 6:50 p.m.
