Charleston, W. Va. -- The in-house academic leader for Marygrove Athletics continued their reign after the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) released the 2013 Women's Soccer Academic All-Americans as part of Wednesday's (Oct. 30) National Championship Banquet. At the banquet, six Mustangs were named as Academic All-Americans – breaking last year's program record of four in a season.

Since the program's inception in 2009, the women's soccer team has produced the most Academic All-Americans within the Marygrove athletic department. The women's soccer program has also posted the best team GPA of all Marygrove teams since their arrival.

The six Academic All-Americans, Andrea Aznar (Caracas, Venezuela/Oakland CC), Paige Bicoll (Warren, Mich./Mott), Rebecca Collins (Garden City, Mich./Garden City), Kamry Miller (New Boston, Mich./UM-Dearborn), Sara Ruch (Oxford, Mich./Oxford), and Cheyenne York (Taylor, Mich./Truman) received the prestigious honor by working hard in the classroom while remaining dedicated to their sport.

The honor was the latest in a long line of academic awards for seniors Paige Bicoll and Rebecca Collins. Aznar, Miller, Ruch, and York all earned the award in their first full season eligible for the honor.

To achieve USCAA Academic All-American status, student-athletes must meet the minimum requirements of a 3.5 or above cumulative GPA while being a sophomore or above (academic standing).

Cheyenne York (Taylor, Mich./Truman) , one of the program's hardest workers over the past three seasons, was named to the USCAA All-American Honorable Mention team after completing a season in which she led the Mustangs in total scoring with 15 points. With five goals and five assists, York was a steady force after moving to the midfield this season.

York's 15-point campaign is one point better than her previous career-high in a season (14 – set in 2012).

The final game of the 2013 season for women's soccer will be at home Saturday (Nov. 2) when the Mustangs take on Aquinas College. Saturday's kick is slated for 12:30 p.m.
