DETROIT, Mich. -- The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) office announced the 2013 women's soccer award teams Wednesday (Nov. 6) as postseason play kicked off. This year, five Marygrove College student-athletes were honored to various teams for their performance in the classroom and leadership on and off the playing field.
WHAC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM (minimum 3.25 GPA and junior or above academic standing at Marygrove)
The women's soccer team more than doubled their representation on the WHAC's All-Academic team from year one to year two after five Mustangs were named to the conference's all-academic team this season. Andrea Aznar* (Caracas, Venezuela/Oakland CC), senior captain and midfielder Paige Bicoll (Warren, Mich./Mott), Rebecca Collins (Garden City, Mich./Garden City), Kamry Miller (New Boston, Mich./UM-Dearborn) and Kaitlyn Pusey (Holly, Mich./Holly) qualified for spots on the all-academic team by boasting GPAs well above the minimum 3.25 requirement. Aznar, Bicoll, Collins, and Miller were also recently tabbed United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Academic All-Americans.
WHAC CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER TEAM
Paige Bicoll, an active leader for the Mustangs over the past four years, was named Marygrove's representative on the 2013 WHAC Champions of Character Team. The senior was honored as the Mustangs' best representative of the NAIA's Five Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Servant Leadership, and Sportsmanship.
