FINDLAY, Ohio -- The men's basketball team (0-3) played their second game in less than 24 hours, and their second of three games over a five day stretch, Saturday (Nov. 9) at perennial NCAA Division II power, the University of Findlay Oilers. The tough stretch of games did not get any easier Saturday as the eleventh-ranked Oilers used an early 20-2 run to pull away from the Mustangs and eventually win, 105-50.
Sophomore guard Diante Taylor (Battle Creek, Mich./Central) paced the Mustangs with 14 points and four rebounds. Fellow sophomore Manny Washington (Dearborn, Mich./Edsel Ford) followed up Friday's double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds) with a 10-point, five-rebound performance in 19 minutes.
Terrick Griffin (Detroit, Mich./PEC Prep), Jimmy Stewart (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte) added seven and six points respectively. Griffin added seven rebounds, while Stewart grabbed six boards of his own.
As a team, the Mustangs shot 27% from the floor (19-of-71) compared to Findlay's 50% clip (42-of-84).
Findlay was balanced offensively as six Oilers reached double figures scoring.
The Mustangs will hit the road Tuesday (Nov. 12) for another out-of-state matchup when they visit Purdue University North Central. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. EST.
