SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- After witnessing a scorching shooting display by Lawrence Tech (3-5; 1-3 WHAC) in the first half, the Mustangs (0-8; 0-4 WHAC) battled back to within three points in the second half only to fall, 80-69, inside Don Ridler Field House in Southfield Tuesday (Nov. 26). Lawrence Tech led by as many as 17 on a night where the Blue Devils shot 69% from 3-point range in the first half and 57% from distance for the game to keep the Mustangs at bay.

After trailing 42-33 at the break, the Mustangs fought back behind the hot hand of freshman sharpshooter Jimmy Stewart (Punta Gorda, Fla./Charlotte). The freshman connected on back-to-back threes to bring the Mustangs to within three, 58-55, with just under 10 minutes left to play in Tuesday's WHAC matchup.

The host Blue Devils countered with a 12-5 run over the next five minutes to stave off the great comeback by the Mustangs and win the game, 80-69. The Blue Devils were led by Jake Mullin with a career-high 33 points on 8-of-12 shooting from 3-point land.

Before getting to within one possession, the Mustangs' young duo of sophomore guard Diante Taylor (Battle Creek, Mich./Central) and freshman wing Elijah Ingram (Detroit, Mich./Consortium) helped bring the Mustangs back to single digits with a inside-out combo. For the game, Ingram shot a personal best 4-of-7 from distance for a career-high 17 points, while Taylor amassed a team-high 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor.

Kenny Enoex (Warren, Mich./Fitzgerald) played a great game for the Mustangs with 12 points (10-of-12 FT), four rebounds, and four blocks.

The hot hand of Mullin and the Blue Devils proved to be the difference as the Mustangs couldn't connect late in the 11-point conference setback.

Post-Game Notes: Lawrence Tech shot 9-of-13 from 3-point land in the first half Tuesday … Marygrove committed a season-low seven turnovers (LTU 8) … LTU won the rebound battle 41-29 … Diante Taylor's 20 points was one shy of his season high of 21 set against Purdue North Central … Taylor has led the Mustangs in scoring the last six outings …

The Mustangs will be back in action over the weekend with a Saturday (Nov. 30) non-conference tilt at NCAA Division III Adrian College. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
