DEARBORN, Mich. -- The Mustangs fell to 2-8 overall and 0-5 in the WHAC after dropping Wednesday's (Dec. 4) conference contest at the University of Michigan Dearborn by a 71-37 final. The loss, marking the 27th consecutive conference loss for the Mustangs since entering the WHAC in 2012, came against a previously winless Dearborn squad.
Arriving late due to bus issues, the Mustangs never found their rhythm as the Wolverines (1-7; 1-4 WHAC) opened the game on a 12-4 run. The early hole proved to be too much for the Mustangs as the Wolverines used the edge to their advantage in the fifth conference game for both teams.
In the middle of a tough shooting stretch, the Mustangs 26% from the floor compared to Dearborn's 43% night. Despite their shooting woes, the Mustangs suffered the setback at the hands of Dearborn's inside-out combo of Jalissa Williams and Danielle Cowart. The pair of Wolverines combined for 47 points on the night.
Marygrove, looking to get back at track Saturday (Dec. 7) when they host Aquinas at 1 p.m., was paced by Ciara Moore (Detroit, Mich./Northwestern) with 14. Raeha Weaver (Battle Creek, Mich./Kellogg CC) followed with nine points, five rebounds, and two steals.
Saturday's game against Aquinas will be played at Detroit's Northwest Activities Center (18100 Meyers Rd., Detroit, Mich. 48235).
