Mustangs Compete at Michigan Intercollegiate Meet
HILLSDALE, Mich.-After setting persona records last week, the Mustangs looked to do more of the same at Friday’s Michigan Intercollegiate Championship in Hillsdale, Michigan.
The event, hosted by Hillsdale College, invites all institutions in Michigan to compete on the same course annually.
With three runners competing on the afternoon, the Mustangs were unable to capture a team score. However, junior Shana DeVoe (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon) continued her stellar season with a 5K time of 22:30. The challenging course was enough to push DeVoe’s pace nearly 90 seconds above last week’s time.
Following DeVoe was Ashley Hart (Oak Park, Mich./Oakland CC) with a time of 30:12. The time was less than a minute over Hart’s PR set last week at the Lansing Invitational. Shanique Maddox (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) finished third for the Mustangs at the 31:20 mark.
The Mustangs won’t return to the course until Saturday, October 22 for the NAIA Great Lakes Invitational. This year, the race of the region’s best in the NAIA will be hosted by Aquinas College in Grand Rapids.
