Tough day for the Lady ‘Stangs

DETROIT, Mich.- In a game that could preview an A.I.I. Tournament game next weekend, the Redhawks of Indiana Northwest squared off against the Mustangs from Marygrove College. Although nice outdoors on Saturday, the Mustangs were very chilly indoors on their way to a cool 18% from the floor for the game.

That stat, coupled with one of the NAIA’s better players on the other side in Sharon Houston, made it very hard for the Mustangs to keep it close. In the end, the Mustangs fell to the visiting Redhawks, 68-36.

Arielle Edwards (Grand Rapids, Mich./Ottawa Hills) was the lone Mustang in double figures with 11 points. The freshman added an equal 11 rebounds for the second double-double of her career.

On Tuesday, the Mustangs will finish their season with a home finale against USCAA rival Rochester College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm at UD Jesuit High.
