Mustangs Stumble Late Against Cougars
SPRING ARBOR, Mich.-The Lady Mustangs were clipped by the Cougars of Spring Arbor by a 72-57 tally in Spring Arbor Wednesday evening. The Cougars balanced attack proved to be enough to pull away from the Mustangs late.
After only trailing by one possession at the half (30-27), the Mustangs went into the break poised to take the road NAIA victory back to Detroit. After the intermission, the host Cougars distributed the ball evenly as four starters eventually hit double figures in a 15 point win (72-57). The loss drops the Mustangs to 2-10 heading into the holiday break.
Leading the way for the Mustangs was sophomore Kaila Corrothers (Detroit, Mich./Owens Community College) with a career-high 25 points on 12-of-24 shooting. Corrothers’ career night was complimented by three steals and two assists.
Stat of the Night: The Mustangs were -21 at the free throw line after the Cougars owned the overall trips to the stripe (39-8).
