STATE COLLEGE, Penn. -- Day two of the 2012 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship ended with freshman Ian McCarthy (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) shooting an 86 – one shot better than his first day on the course.
Course: Penn State Blue Course | Par: 72 | Yards: 7,228
McCarthy's second round began nicely after he sank back-to-back birdie putts on his second and third holes of the day. The first birdie of round two was made on No. 18 – the same hole McCarthy was able to take advantage of with a birdie on day one of the tournament.
The freshman upstart will look to carry the momentum into Friday's (Oct. 12) WHAC Jamboree No. 4 in Sylvania, Ohio. The event is hosted by Lourdes University and will represent the fall finale for WHAC events.
After the fall season is complete, McCarthy will prepare for the spring campaign in which the conference and NAIA National Championship tournaments are held.
